Motivational Campaign

Client: Public Library of Science (PLOS)

Role: Design Lead, Storyboard

In collaboration with PLOS, a nonprofit Open Access journal dedicated to advancing science communication, I co-created a Motivational Campaign featuring five short, discipline-based videos. These videos use whimsical and surreal visuals to showcase different research inspiration.

As part of the campaign, researchers are invited to engage with a quiz that leads them to a personalized landing page featuring the video that best aligns with their research interests. The goal is to inspire researchers to dive deeper into their fields and explore new opportunities.

Fairness

Through an abstract photographic collage, the scientific importance of fairness is vividly portrayed, with symmetry and patterns symbolizing a fair research culture and equitable distribution. Every element moves in perfect synchrony, converging to create a harmonious trajectory toward the future.

Curiosity

Using the concept of a nesting doll, the motion of peeling away layer after layer reveals something surprising. This video symbolizes the opportunity for exciting and new scientific discoveries.

Leadership

This video explores the value of leadership through the lens of an abstract leader figure. Follow along as we journey through a cellular landscape, where the leader paves the way for future researchers by being the first to explore new ideas and supporting others.

Impact

Dive into a beautiful landscape where we illustrate how scientific research can have a lasting impact on the world. This video expands on the concept of positive growth, where ripples of water trigger geometric prisms that shine light and encourage plants to grow. It speaks to the actions researchers can take in their daily lives to leave a lasting impact on science.

Trust

Trust is another key scientific value within the PLOS research community. In this narrative, a portal symbolizes transparency in research, while a building block represents the foundation for new discoveries.
